Charles Bridge

A historic bridge in Prague, Charles Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city and is a must-see for any traveler visiting Prague. The bridge spans the Vltava River and connects the Old Town with the Lesser Town.

Construction of the Charles Bridge began in 1357, under the reign of Charles IV. It took nearly 50 years to complete and was the only way to cross the river for over 500 years. The bridge is lined with 30 Baroque statues, each one representing a different saint.

Charles Bridge is lined with street performers and artists. You can find musicians, painters, artist. It’s a great spot to take in some of the local culture and find some unique souvenirs that are hand made by locals.

Charles Bridge offers some of the most beautiful views of Prague. You can see the Old Town and the Lesser Town on either side of the river, as well as the famous Charles Bridge Tower and the beautiful Prague Castle in the distance.

The Charles Bridge is open 24/7 only to pedestrian and is free to visit, unless going to visit the towers. Be prepared for crowds, especially in the summertime. To avoid the busiest times, one must visit early in the morning or late in the evening.
